NPFL Fines Kano Pillars N15 Million for Security Breaches

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) announced sanctions against Kano Pillars following a breach of league rules during a home match against Rivers United on April 19, 2026. The club failed to provide adequate security, which allowed unauthorized individuals to access restricted areas.

This breach was compounded by fan misconduct, including encroachment onto the pitch and behavior that could bring the game into disrepute. As a result, Kano Pillars has been fined a total of N15 million, which includes a N4 million fine for inadequate security, N3 million for repeated unsporting behavior, and additional fines for gross misconduct towards match officials.

Furthermore, the club will play its next three home matches behind closed doors, starting from the current season and extending into the next. Kano Pillars has 48 hours to appeal the sanctions.
