NRC Expands Abuja-Kaduna Train Services with New Trips

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced an expansion of train services on the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, introducing more trips effective March 6. According to a statement from Callistu Unyimadu, the Chief Public Relations Officer, the additional trips are intended to provide commuters with more travel options, enhance operational flexibility, and improve service delivery on one of the country's busiest rail corridors.

The corridor previously experienced operational disruptions due to a bomb blast on March 28, 2022, and a derailment on August 26, 2025, which led to a reduction in rolling stock and the introduction of temporary speed restrictions for safety. The new timetable will allow for three trips from Idu to Rigasa on Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays, with two trips operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The NRC has reaffirmed its commitment to improving capacity, reliability, safety, and the overall passenger experience across its rail network.
