NRC Must Prevent Future Train Mishaps — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has called on the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to take urgent steps to prevent future train mishaps following a recent derailment of a passenger train. Tinubu expressed sadness over the incident and stated that he is closely monitoring the situation, awaiting a full briefing on the circumstances surrounding the accident.

He assured Nigerians that the NRC has already begun remedial actions to strengthen safety measures on the nation's rail corridor. The passenger train bound for Kaduna from Abuja derailed shortly after leaving the Federal Capital Territory, resulting in injuries to passengers.

The NRC confirmed the derailment and stated that necessary steps are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Managing Director Kayode Opeifa confirmed that officials have been dispatched to assess the damage and restore operations.
