Nigerian Railway Corporation to Revamp National Train Services Nationwide

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Kayode Opeifa, announced plans to reposition the national train services across Nigeria. Opeifa revealed that the NRC has begun reviewing and enhancing its current operations, focusing on various train services, including the Port Harcourt, Kano, and Lagos services.

Additionally, the Corporation is working on reactivating the Narrow gauge line, increasing freight and cargo movement, refurbishing locomotives, and repurposing rail lines in states like Lagos, Plateau, and Niger. Opeifa also publicly apologized for verbally assaulting a journalist covering a recent train derailment incident.

The NRC aims to improve national mobility and boost the transportation of agricultural products.
