NSC Awards Majekodunmi ₦3m for Athletic Achievements

On Thursday, the National Sports Commission (NSC), led by Director Bukola Olopade, continued its nationwide appreciation tour by visiting Abeokuta to honor junior athlete Majekodunmi Afusat Bisola. During the visit, Bisola was presented with a cheque of ₦3 million as recognition for her exceptional performances, which contributed significantly to Nigeria's medal haul in 2025.

She delivered impressive runs, winning gold in both the 400 meters and the 4x400m relay at the 2024 National Sports Festival and replicated her success at the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Junior Championship. The NSC emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding grassroots athletes to promote transparency and tackle issues like cheating in sports.

Bisola expressed her gratitude for the award, stating it motivates her to aim for podium finishes at the upcoming Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal. The appreciation tour had commenced earlier with visits to other young athletes, including teenage swimmer Aidan Dumuij and Abili Tofunmi Ibidapo.
