NSCDC Arrests Abdulrahman Ali for Cable Vandalism in Gombe

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, arrested 22-year-old Abdulrahman Ali for the alleged vandalism of an armoured cable supplying electricity to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited depot in Gombe. The incident occurred on October 16, 2026, when Ali allegedly conspired with another suspect, who remains at large, to vandalize the cable along Bauchi Road.

They reportedly sold the vandalized cable for N100,000. Ali was apprehended while attempting to flee Gombe based on credible intelligence from the Department of Intelligence and Investigation.

Additionally, the NSCDC recovered 968.4 metres of aluminium power transmission conductor cables abandoned by suspected vandals in Lubo-Zambuk, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area, on October 12. NSCDC Commandant Mohammed Usman stated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court.

He reaffirmed the corps' commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.
