NSCDC Arrests Ex-Student Prefect for Theft in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested a 22-year-old former student prefect, Aliyu Musa, in Jigawa State for allegedly attempting to steal laboratory equipment from his school. The arrest was confirmed by Badruddeen Tijjani, the spokesperson for the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday.

Musa was apprehended after school authorities reported recurring thefts of laboratory equipment. Preliminary investigations revealed that several items, including five microscopes, ten conical flasks, and other laboratory equipment, had previously gone missing.

The NSCDC's intervention was timely, preventing further vandalism and theft of vital educational facilities. Tijjani emphasized the corps' commitment to deploying personnel to strengthen surveillance around schools to prevent criminal activities.

The suspect has been charged with criminal trespass and theft and will be arraigned in court. The NSCDC assured that it would continue to enhance security measures to protect the educational sector and urged residents to report any suspicious activities around schools.
