NSCDC Discovers Fake University, Rescues 107 Students

On July 20, 2026, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducted an operation in Imeke village, Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, uncovering a fake university that admitted students into unaccredited programs and coerced them into a Ponzi scheme. Six suspects, aged between 24 and 31 years, were arrested during the operation.

A total of 107 students were rescued from the illegal institution. The NSCDC's Public Relations Officer, Oluwaseun Abolurin, stated that the suspects and evidence collected would be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for further investigation and prosecution.

NSCDC Commandant Adedotun Keshinro warned prospective students to be cautious of fraudulent admission offers, emphasizing that desperation can lead to victimization by criminal schemes. Additionally, the NSCDC announced the arrest of 12 other suspects linked to various crimes, including illegal migration and human trafficking.
