NSCDC Discovers Illegal Crude Oil Dump in Rivers State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducted an operation that led to the discovery of a vast illegal crude oil dump site in Igwuruta, Ikwerr Local Government Area, Rivers State. The operation was initiated following several days of credible intelligence gathering.

NSCDC's Port Harcourt Public Relations Officer, Ihemnacho Umeado, disclosed that the quantity of the suspected stolen crude oil found at the site has not yet been ascertained. Joachin Okafor, the NSCDC command in Rivers State, visited the scene to assess the situation and reiterated the corps' zero tolerance for illegal bunkering activities.

He emphasized that the command would pursue all perpetrators of economic sabotage, regardless of their status, and warned vandals to avoid the state or face the full weight of the law. Okafor also directed the corps' intelligence department to launch a comprehensive investigation to identify the source of the illegal activities and to facilitate possible arrests and prosecutions.
