NSCDC Arrests Two Suspects in Railway Vandalism Case

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducted a successful operation against railway vandalism, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, Alzuma Yakubu (65) and Ismail Muhammad (32), and the recovery of a significant quantity of stolen railway sleepers. This operation occurred along the Bauchi-Kano corridor and was executed by the NSCDC's Commandant General, Ahmadu Audi, who ordered the deployment of a special intelligence squad to address the rising threat of vandalism targeting critical national infrastructure.

The suspects were intercepted while transporting the stolen materials in a Peugeot Boxer vehicle, which was registered as KMC 366 TE. Following a thorough inspection, the NSCDC discovered the concealed railway sleepers inside the vehicle, leading to the immediate arrest of the driver, Yakubu Muhammad, who claimed ownership of the items.

This operation is part of the NSCDC's broader strategy to combat economic sabotage and protect vital national assets, particularly in the railway sector, which is crucial for the nation's economic growth and transport development.
