NSCDC FCT Tennis Tournament Promotes Grassroots Sports

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command, led by Dr. Olusola Odumosu, is hosting a tennis tournament aimed at boosting grassroots sports development.

The tournament, which began on Wednesday and will conclude on Friday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, is designed to discover talent and inspire young players across the nation. Dr.

Odumosu emphasized that sports serve as a unifying tool for discipline and health, steering youth away from crime and towards positive engagement. Coach Samuel Sundai of the FCT Tennis Association praised the NSCDC's efforts in promoting grassroots tennis development, calling the tournament a laudable initiative that provides young players with a platform to showcase their talent and gain exposure.

Sundai also highlighted the need for individuals and organizations to support grassroots sports development, noting that the government alone cannot shoulder this responsibility. The tournament features notable matches, including Nigeria's top-ranked player, Canic Abua, defeating fourth-ranked Lucki Danjuma, and Salvat Alex winning the girls' singles category.
