NSCDC Deploys 4,000 Personnel for FCT Elections Security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 4,000 personnel to safeguard the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the Area Council elections scheduled for February 21. Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant, emphasized the importance of protecting voters from intimidation, violence, and electoral malpractice.

In a meeting with the National Peace Committee, Odumosu outlined the strategic operational plans to ensure tight security across polling units, particularly in vulnerable communities. The NSCDC has already identified flashpoints and is conducting covert operations.

Odumosu reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining vigilance throughout the election period and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the declaration of results. He urged residents to participate confidently in the democratic process and warned against youth recruitment by politicians to incite trouble.

The National Peace Committee, represented by Asab Ndahi, commended the NSCDC for its preparedness and expressed confidence in continued cooperation to guarantee a transparent electoral process.
