NSCDC Launches Agro Rangers Base to Secure Gombe Agriculture

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) inaugurated a newly constructed Agro Rangers base in the Kanawa Forest Reserve, located in the Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State. This initiative, led by NSCDC Gombe State Command, aims to strengthen the protection of agricultural assets and address conflicts between herders and farmers.

The Agro Ranger unit was established to bridge security gaps in Nigeria's agricultural sector, with responsibilities including the protection of farmland, ranches, silos, and forest reserves. The project, supported by the Gombe State government, includes facilities equipped with solar power systems and motorized boreholes.

NSCDC Commandant Jibrin Idri described the project as a strategic intervention to safeguard agricultural investments and ensure zero encroachment, illegal logging, and farmer-herder clashes. The base will serve as an operational center for Agro Ranger personnel, who will provide round-the-clock security in the area.

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya commended the initiative, which is part of broader efforts to enhance security in agrarian communities.
