NSE and Lawyer Honor Ogun Students in STEM Debate

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch, in collaboration with lawyer Yemisi Shyllon, recognized outstanding secondary school students in Ogun State during a ceremony held at the NSE Abeokuta secretariat on Tuesday. This initiative followed a STEM debate competition that began on May 7, 2025, featuring participation from 32 schools, comprising 16 private and 16 public institutions.

The competition aimed to deepen student engagement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Olumayowa Idowu, chairman of the NSE Abeokuta Branch, emphasized the importance of nurturing the next generation of engineering innovators in Nigeria.

The overall winner, Stephen Adelakun from Ebenez Grammar School, received a trophy, cash prize, plaque, and certificate. Other notable winners included Saheedat Idowu and Deborah Bamidel.

The event highlighted the need for continued investment in public education, particularly in STEM fields, to enhance Nigeria's technological advancement.
