30 Teams Selected for Nigerian Engineering Olympiad 2025

The Nigerian Engineering Olympiad (NEO) has selected 30 innovation teams from a pool of 375 submissions across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. This initiative, set to launch in November 2025, aims to bridge the gap between theoretical engineering education and practical industrial applications.

Each shortlisted team will receive a grant of N3 million to support prototype development, with a total investment of N90 million dedicated to this grassroots innovation competition. The 30 teams, comprising higher institutions including federal, state, private universities, and polytechnics, will compete for 12 slots in a national boot camp in Lagos.

The top 12 teams will undergo intensive mentorship and business development training, leading to a semi-final knockout round, culminating in four finalists competing for a share of a N100 million seed fund. Felix Omatsola Ogb, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, emphasized the need for youth-driven innovation to reduce dependence on imported technology.

The initiative aims to inspire young Nigerians to develop solutions that can transform industries.
