NSIB Investigates Enugu Air Runway Excursion at Benin

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation into a runway excursion involving an Enugu Air Embraer E170 aircraft at Benin Airport, Edo State. The incident occurred on Thursday, 23 July 2026, at approximately 3:10 p.m. local time, when Flight 4264, registered as 5N-ENR, overran the end of Runway 05 during landing.

There were 63 passengers and five crew members aboard, all of whom were safely accounted for with no injuries reported. The NSIB's Go Team was deployed to the site shortly after notification to gather and preserve evidence.

Investigators are interviewing the flight crew, examining the aircraft, assessing runway conditions, and reviewing operational and technical information to ascertain the circumstances and contributing factors of the incident. Capt.

Alex Badeh Jr., the Director-General of the NSIB, expressed relief that there were no injuries and emphasized the seriousness of runway excursions. A preliminary report will be issued within 30 days, with a final report and safety recommendations to follow.
