NSIB Investigates Enugu Air Runway Excursion at Benin

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an investigation into a runway excursion involving an Enugu Air Embraer E170 aircraft (registration 5N-ENR) at Benin Airport. The incident occurred on [date not specified] at approximately 1510 hours local time, as the aircraft was operating Flight 4264 from Lagos to Benin and overran the end of Runway 05 during landing.

There were 63 passengers and five crew members on board, all of whom have been accounted for, and no injuries were reported. NSIB mobilized its Go Team, which arrived at the site within minutes to gather evidence, interview the flight crew, and assess runway conditions.

Captain Alex Badeh Jr., Director General of NSIB, expressed relief that there were no injuries and emphasized the seriousness of runway excursions, calling for a thorough investigation. The NSIB has notified the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and secured the aircraft.

A preliminary report will be issued within 30 days, with a final report to follow upon completion of the investigation.
