NSITF Advocates AI Integration for Workplace Safety

On Monday, at the UN House in Abuja, Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), called for a connection between digital transformation and social protection as African businesses adopt Artificial Intelligence. He spoke at the launch of the ESBC–InnoPower LLC (USA) Free MSMEs AI Master Training Program, organized by the ECOWAS Small Business Coalition in collaboration with InnoPower LLC and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Faleye highlighted that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial to Nigeria's economy, representing approximately 96 percent of businesses and employing millions. He described the training as an investment in West Africa's future competitiveness and stressed that technology must be paired with worker welfare and safety.

Faleye urged that digital transformation and workplace protection should be viewed as interconnected issues, emphasizing the need for responsive systems of occupational safety and social security as businesses expand across ECOWAS.
