Nigeria to Host ISSA West Africa Seminar in 2026

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) is set to host the ISSA West Africa Technical Seminar from April 22 to 23, 2026, in Abuja. Barr Oluwaseun Faley, the Managing Director of NSITF, announced this during a media briefing, highlighting the seminar's theme of improving inclusive access to social security services.

The seminar aims to bring together social security institutions, policymakers, and worker representatives to discuss strategies for enhancing social protection systems across West Africa. Faley noted Nigeria's significant progress in strengthening its social security architecture, particularly in employee compensation schemes.

He emphasized the importance of expanding coverage and building trust among workers, especially in the informal sector. The seminar will feature participation from various organizations, including the Federal Ministry of Labour, PENCOM, NECA, NLC, TUC, UNESCO, and ILO, focusing on collaborative efforts to improve service delivery and expand social security coverage.
