NSITF Expands Employee Compensation to 7.6 Million Workers

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has expanded its employee compensation scheme to cover 7.6 million workers, marking a significant reform aimed at strengthening workforce protection and improving institutional efficiency. Oluwaseun Faley, the Managing Director of NSITF, announced this development during the International Civil Service Conference on Wednesday.

The inclusion of police personnel in the compensation scheme for the first time is seen as a major milestone for workforce welfare and national security. The reforms are designed to enhance operational processes, increase compliance, and restore stakeholder confidence in the employee compensation scheme established under the Employee Compensation Act of 2010.

Faley noted that the fund faced challenges such as slow claims processing and low public awareness. As part of the reforms, NSITF has launched a digital transformation initiative to automate workflows and improve service delivery.

The fund has also signed a partnership agreement with the Lagos State government for full implementation of the compensation scheme for state workers.
