NSITF Enrolls 7.6 Million Workers in Compensation Scheme

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has successfully enrolled over 7.6 million workers into its Employee Compensation Scheme (ECS), marking a historic achievement for the organization. Barrister Oluwaseun Faley, the Managing Director of NSITF, disclosed this information during the 2026 International Civil Service Conference held in Abuja on May 20, 3026.

He highlighted the importance of the ECS in providing security for workers, particularly in the Nigeria Police Force, and emphasized the need for reforms to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the compensation process. Faley noted that since assuming office on July 15, 2024, he has faced significant operational challenges but is committed to confronting these issues head-on.

The NSITF has also partnered with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to strengthen anti-corruption measures and improve public confidence. In 2024 alone, NSITF processed 22,350 compensation claims, achieving a 21% increase in payouts, demonstrating the effectiveness of the reforms being implemented.
