Nigeria's NTAC Deploys 10,000 Professionals Globally

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has successfully deployed more than 10,000 Nigerian professionals to over 40 countries since its establishment in 1987, reinforcing Nigeria's soft power diplomacy and enhancing technical cooperation with developing nations. The Director-General of NTAC shared these achievements during a briefing with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

NTAC focuses on providing technical assistance rather than direct financial aid, recruiting skilled Nigerian volunteers in sectors such as education, health, engineering, and agriculture to serve in partner countries for two years. Currently, 274 volunteers are active in 13 countries, including The Gambia and Uganda.

The agency is expanding its reach, with advanced discussions for engaging health professionals in Jamaica, funded by the Jamaican government, and nearing completion of agreements with Zambia, Ethiopia, Angola, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados. The impact of NTAC is evident as many volunteers have attained senior positions in foreign institutions, reflecting the confidence recipient nations have in Nigerian expertise.
