NTDA Partners with Igbobi-Sabe Kingdom for Gelede Festival

The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), led by Ola Awakan, is collaborating with the Igbobi-Sabe Kingdom to promote the Gelede Festival as part of efforts to strengthen cultural tourism. During a courtesy visit to the kingdom in Yaba, Awakan and his delegation were received by Oba Owolabi Adeyemi Adeshina Adeniyi Maforunyomi and Olori Mosunmola Anik Adeniyi.

The monarch commended NTDA's initiatives to leverage tourism for cultural heritage preservation and expressed interest in fostering a strategic partnership with the NTDA. Awakan emphasized the importance of storytelling in unlocking the value of cultural heritage, particularly highlighting the Gelede masquerade and its connection to the ancient iroko tree.

He proposed featuring Igbobi-Sabe's tourism assets in an ongoing project aimed at creating Africa's first dedicated tourism streaming platform, which seeks to showcase Nigeria's rich and vibrant tourism assets to a global audience.
