Ribadu Advocates for Enhanced National Security Measures

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, spoke at the 15th National Security Seminar organized by the Alumni Association of the National Defence College in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the National Defence College in Abuja on June 16-17. He discussed the successful neutralization of notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo in Kogi State, which prevented a planned terrorist attack during the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

Ribadu emphasized the long-standing challenges posed by Nigeria's porous borders, which create vulnerabilities for criminal and terrorist networks. He called for the deployment of modern technology, such as biometric systems, to enhance surveillance and strengthen regional cooperation.

Ribadu also highlighted the importance of addressing the underlying social conditions that lead to youth recruitment into violent groups, advocating for a comprehensive approach to national security that includes credible information and community resilience against misinformation and extremist narratives.
