Ribadu Meets US Officials to Strengthen Security Ties

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser of Nigeria, held a meeting with senior officials from the United States Department of State during a visit by a high-level U.S. delegation led by Frank Garcia, the newly confirmed Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. This meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between Nigeria and the United States to tackle the increasing security challenges facing Nigeria, including attacks from terrorist groups, banditry, and kidnappings.

Ribadu engaged in discussions to review the progress made by the Nigeria-U.S. Joint Working Group and to assess areas requiring further cooperation.

The meeting reaffirmed both countries' commitment to deepening collaboration on security issues and intelligence sharing, particularly at a time when parts of Nigeria are experiencing severe insecurity. Ribadu's engagement comes amid rising concerns over the activities of armed groups that continue to launch attacks, leading to deaths, displacement, and property destruction across various communities in Nigeria.
