NUJ and FCT Launch Health Insurance for Journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), represented by Comrade Grace Ik, announced the launch of a health insurance scheme for its members in collaboration with the FCT Health Department. The initiative, unveiled during a press conference, aims to provide health coverage to journalists who currently do not have access to such services.

Comrade Ik commended Hon. Akin Rotimi, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, for his leadership and foresight in initiating this scheme.

The health insurance is seen as a vital step towards ensuring that journalists can perform their duties without the added stress of health-related financial burdens. Gboyega Onadiran, Chairman of the House of Representatives Press Corps, expressed gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of a healthy press for a healthy democracy.

Dr. Dolapo Fasaw, from the FCT Health Services Secretariat, also supported the initiative, highlighting the need for inclusive healthcare access in Nigeria.
