NUPENG Absence Delays Dangote Dispute Resolution Meeting

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) was notably absent from a meeting aimed at resolving a dispute with the Dangote Group. The Federal Government, through the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, called for the resolution of the conflict concerning the unionization of Dangote Group employees.

NUPENG had threatened a nationwide strike over the issue. The dispute revolves around the company's policy on unionization, with NUPENG insisting on union representation for oil workers at Dangote Group.

The meeting, scheduled to take place at the Ministry of Labour in Abuja, had not commenced as of Monday. The government urged NUPENG to reconsider its stance to avert industrial action.
