Stanlei Nwabali Returns to Chippa United for New Season

Stanlei Nwabali has rejoined Chippa United, a South African Premiership side, after a five-month absence. His departure from the club was announced in February 2023, as he expressed a desire to seek new challenges following impressive performances, including his participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nwabali, 29, was expected to secure a move abroad due to his standout displays but ultimately did not finalize any transfer, leaving him without a club during the off-season. Chippa United confirmed his return in a statement, expressing delight at having him back in the squad, emphasizing his experience and leadership as valuable assets for the upcoming season.

The club finished last season just four points above the relegation zone, making Nwabali's return crucial as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign. His absence from competitive football also meant he missed Nigeria's last four matches, including high-profile friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
