Nwaiwu Suffers Thigh Injury, Doubts Super Eagles Call-Up

Chibuik Nwaiwu, a 22-year-old central defender for Trabzonspor, has sustained a thigh injury during a match against Fatih Karagümrük, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Trabzonspor on Friday. The club confirmed that an MRI scan revealed bleeding and edema in the inner thigh muscle of Nwaiwu's left leg.

Although no return date has been provided, he has begun treatment under the supervision of the club's medical team. This injury is a significant setback for Nwaiwu, who has recently shown promising form, scoring twice in the match and contributing to his team's success.

He has been mentioned as a strong candidate for a call-up to the Super Eagles by manager Eric Chell for an upcoming four-nation invitational tournament later this month. However, this prospect now appears significantly diminished due to his injury.

Nwaiwu had previously entered the match in the 73rd minute and scored in the 47th and 50th minutes, with Paul Onuachu assisting on the second goal.
