Nwaiwu Replaces Bassey for Nigeria's Friendlies Against Iran, Jordan

Chibuik Nwaiwu has been selected to replace Calvin Bassey in Nigeria's squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan. Bassey withdrew due to a back injury sustained during Fulham's 3-1 victory over Burnley at Craven Cottage last weekend.

Nwaiwu, a 22-year-old player who joined Trabzonspor from Wolfsberg in January, is expected to make his first appearance for the national team. He has already made an impact in the league, scoring twice and providing an assist for Trabzonspor this season.

Nigeria will face Iran on Friday and Jordan on Tuesday as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, although Nigeria has unfortunately failed to qualify for the tournament.
