Sunshine Queens Secure Imo Strikers Slot for NWFL Return
Sunshine Queens have officially acquired the slot of Imo Strikers Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), enabling their return to the topflight for the 2026-27 season. The Akure-based club was relegated to the NWFL Championship in the previous season.
This acquisition is pending ratification by the NWFL board. The return to the top league presents an opportunity for Sunshine Queens to seek immediate redemption following a challenging campaign last term.
In preparation for the new season, the club is expected to strengthen both its squad and technical department.
