Oluwakemi Adegbuyi Wins WAFU-B Player of the Tournament

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, a 16-year-old player, was awarded Player of the Tournament after her exceptional performance helped Edo Queens secure the 2026 WAFU-B Women’s title. The final, held in Burkina Faso, saw Edo Queens draw 2-2 with Ghana's Ampem Darkoa, leading to a penalty shootout where Edo Queens triumphed 4-1.

Despite conceding an early penalty, Edo Queens equalized in the 90+3rd minute, forcing the shootout. Adegbuyi was instrumental throughout the tournament, scoring twice in a previous match against ASEC Mimosas.

Her outstanding contributions also included a successful season with FC Robo Queens, where she netted 11 goals, earning her the NWFL Premiership Player of the Season award. With the WAFU-B Player of the Tournament accolade added to her achievements, Adegbuyi is set to be a key player at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco from October 17 to November 7.
