NWFL Suspends Two Players for Post-Match Violence

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) announced the suspension of two players, Teslimot Balogun of Pacesett Queen and Busari Suliyat of Ekiti Queen, due to their involvement in post-match violence. This incident occurred after a match on April 15, 2026, at the Oluyemi Kayod Stadium, where Ekiti Queen defeated Pacesett Queen 2-0.

According to the match officials' report, the altercation took place immediately after the final whistle, with the players engaging in conduct deemed violent and unsporting. Following a review of the referee's report and video footage, the NWFL imposed a two-match ban on both players, effective immediately.

Modup Shabi, the Chief Operating Officer of NWFL, reiterated the league's zero-tolerance stance on violence, warning that future incidents involving violent behavior by players or officials would attract severe sanctions, including indefinite suspension, to protect the integrity and safety of the game.
