Nwifuru Celebrates Maiden Matriculation at Ebonyi ICT University

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State described the maiden matriculation ceremony at Ebonyi State University ICT, held in Oferekp Agbaja, Izzi Local Government Area, as a historic milestone in the state's quest for technological advancement and manpower development. During the ceremony, Nwifuru congratulated the 187 pioneer students admitted to the institution, noting that the event marks the formal beginning of their academic journey.

He highlighted the establishment of the specialized ICT university as a preparation for Ebonyi youth to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world. The idea for the institution originated during the administration of former governor David Nweze Umahi and has gained momentum through collective efforts to ensure the state is not left behind in the global technological revolution.

Nwifuru also expressed gratitude to the host community for donating land for the university and emphasized the government's commitment to manpower development, including awarding postgraduate scholarships to Ebonyi indigenes. However, he noted that the pioneer students would not benefit from the federal government's student loan scheme.
