Ebonyi University Grows to Nearly 4,000 Students in 4 Years

The Federal University of Health Sciences, located in Uburu, Ebonyi State, has experienced significant growth, reaching a student population of 3,759, as reported by Vice Chancellor Prof. Jess Unek during the fifth matriculation ceremony held on a Saturday.

The university, which commenced full academic activities in January 2022 with only 26 students, has admitted a total of 1,044 new students for the current academic session, comprising 361 males and 683 females. Prof.

Unek attributed this rapid increase in admissions to the institution's commitment to quality education and high academic standards, alongside modern learning facilities. The university operates under a 100 percent campus residency policy to ensure proper monitoring of students and to create a conducive learning environment.

Additionally, the institution has benefited from federal government interventions, including the approval of six faculties and 19 departments, which offer programs in medicine, surgery, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and medical laboratory sciences.
