Nwoye Misunderstands SEDC's 2026 Budget Context

During a Senate committee hearing on the South East Development Commission's (SEDC) 2026 budget, Senator Toni Nwoye from Anambra North expressed criticism. However, Mark Okoy, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SEDC, clarified that Nwoye's remarks stemmed from a misunderstanding of the budget's broader context.

Okoy noted that Nwoye spent only a brief time in the budget presentation and failed to grasp its comprehensive objectives. The budget includes initiatives for regional security, infrastructure development, and agricultural programs aimed at boosting investment in the South East.
