FRSC Restricts Truck Movement During Abuja Peak Hours

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced restrictions on the movement of articulated vehicles and heavy-duty trucks during peak hours along the busy Nyanya-Kugbo corridor in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory. This initiative aims to reduce road crashes and alleviate traffic congestion, particularly in light of a recent increase in accidents involving articulated trucks, which have resulted in multiple fatalities and severe injuries.

The FRSC's Corps Marshal, Shehu Moham, disclosed that the operation is part of a strategic enforcement drive to improve traffic flow and address persistent road traffic crashes. The operation, tagged "Safe Kugbo," involves deploying a high-level tactical team to assess recurring crashes and enforce traffic regulations.

The first day of enforcement saw 89 articulated vehicles successfully restricted during designated peak periods, conducted in full compliance with motorist regulations. The FRSC emphasizes the importance of adherence to traffic rules by heavy-duty vehicle operators to ensure safer and more efficient movement within the capital.
