NYSC delays 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation in Niger State

The National Youth Service Corps has postponed the orientation course for newly posted corps members in Niger State due to storm damage at the training…

Delays have affected the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation programme in Niger State, according to an announcement from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Prospective corps members assigned to that state face postponement of their orientation due to extensive damage sustained by the Paiko orientation camp during a recent windstorm.

Before the facility can accommodate the orientation exercise, significant structural restoration must be completed. Management of the NYSC confirmed this necessity.

The scheme's directorate of public relations released a statement explaining that infrastructure repairs made the delay unavoidable. To ensure corps members receive adequate facilities and support systems, officials are now seeking alternative venues.

Those who were scheduled to participate have been assured of communication regarding rescheduled start times, though no specific date has yet been announced by management. Separately, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke addressed participants during the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation opening at the permanent camp within his state on Monday.

All corps members deployed throughout Osun were urged by Adeleke to remain apolitical, with particular emphasis given to the approaching August 15 governorship election. Professional standards and electoral integrity were stressed as critical throughout their service year, and he warned against compromising their mandate through political activities.

Another infrastructure challenge has disrupted NYSC orientation scheduling in Niger. Families of affected prospective corps members have been instructed to expect further updates from scheme leadership on rescheduling details.

The Osun ceremony proceeded without complication, with officials reinforcing the corps' obligation to political impartiality during this electoral period.
