NYSC's Enduring Legacy Affirmed by Pioneer Chief Executive

Colonel Ahmadu Ali, the pioneer Chief Executive of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), asserted the scheme's lasting significance during a visit from the current Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at his home in Abuja. Ali emphasized that the NYSC has endeared itself to the Nigerian people over the past five decades, contributing to national unity and providing young Nigerians with opportunities to step outside their comfort zones.

He praised the visionary leadership of General Yakubu Gowon, who established the NYSC in 1973, and acknowledged the challenges faced since its inception. Ali expressed pride in the NYSC's ability to sustain its foundational vision and highlighted the importance of the scheme in fostering tolerance among Nigerian youth.

Brigadier General Nafiu commended Ali's leadership and the solid foundation he laid for the NYSC, ensuring its stability and relevance for 50 years.
