NYSC Official Arrested After Corps Member's Death

Abass Olalekan, a Local Government Inspector (LGI) with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, was arrested in connection with the death of corps member Victoria Ariyo. Reports indicate that Ariyo, who was pregnant, died due to complications arising from a termination procedure.

Sources claim that Olalekan, who had a romantic relationship with Ariyo, was involved in the process that led to her death. This incident has raised questions regarding the legality of such relationships between NYSC officials and corps members.

The police confirmed Olalekan's arrest and stated that he is currently in custody at the command's headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the ongoing investigation into Ariyo's death but did not respond to inquiries regarding Olalekan's arrest.

The case has drawn attention, especially following the recent death of another female corps member, Adeley Mari, under mysterious circumstances.
