NYSC Investigates Death of Corps Member in Ogun State

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed deep sorrow regarding the death of a female corps member, Victoria Ariyo, who served in the Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State. The NYSC confirmed the incident and stated that it is currently under investigation by the Ogun State Police Command, specifically the Criminal Investigation Department.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, a spokesperson for the police, confirmed that the case is being handled to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Ariyo's death. Allegations have emerged that her death may have followed complications from an abortion procedure.

Although NYSC officials have reportedly linked the deceased to custody, the authorities have yet to officially confirm the cause of death. The NYSC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a strict code of conduct among its staff and corps members and urged the public to refrain from speculation as the investigation continues.

Concerns have also been raised following the report of another corps member, Adeley Mari, found dead under unknown circumstances.
