NYSC Addresses Death of Corps Member in Abuja Incident

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a statement regarding the death of corps member Abdulsamad Jamiu, who was reportedly killed by soldiers in Abuja. Jamiu, aged 25, lost his life during a military operation in Shagari Estate, Dei Dei, on a Sunday.

According to the Nigerian Army, the incident occurred when troops from the Guard Brigade were conducting a routine night patrol in response to a distress call about an armed robbery. They stated that Jamiu was caught in the crossfire as the troops exchanged gunfire with the fleeing robbers.

However, Jamiu's family has rejected the military's account, asserting that he was shot in the head while in his room, and they were present at the time. The NYSC expressed condolences to Jamiu's family and reiterated its commitment to the safety and welfare of corps members across the country.
