NYSC to Replace Khaki Uniform with Adire Fabric

The Nigerian government has decided to replace the traditional khaki uniform of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with Adire fabric as part of a broader reform initiative. Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, announced this change on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television.

The decision is part of efforts to strengthen local production and ensure that public spending directly supports Nigeria's economy. The new Adire uniforms will be produced locally, with the fabric already being manufactured in various parts of the country, particularly in Ogun and Kwara states.

Olawande emphasized the importance of boosting indigenous industries, especially in Nigeria's textile sector, and promoting local craftsmanship. Additionally, the federal government is restructuring the NYSC posting system to ensure that corps members are deployed based on their professional backgrounds and areas of study.
