Major Reforms Approved for NYSC by President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved comprehensive reforms to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), marking the first major overhaul of the scheme in a decade. The reforms will be led by the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and the Minister of Youth, Ayodele Olawande, who will amend the NYSC Act to reflect these changes.

Key features of the reform include the introduction of a fully digital call system designed to improve efficiency and transparency in service delivery. Corps members will be deployed based on security assessments, with enhanced safety measures during their six-week orientation camps.

The reforms emphasize leadership development, entrepreneurship, and digital skills, aligning corps members' postings with their academic qualifications and career aspirations. A new grading certificate system will be introduced to improve the quality of orientation camps nationwide, replacing the traditional pass parade with graduation ceremonies.

Additionally, corps members will receive redesigned NYSC uniforms intended to reflect professionalism and national pride.
