NYSC's Role in National Integration Highlighted by Olawumi

Major General Johnson Olawumi, the former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), spoke about the scheme's significance in promoting national integration and community development during its 50th anniversary. He noted that despite challenges, the NYSC continues to fulfill its founding ideals.

Olawumi highlighted the program's achievements in community development and its role in fostering cultural integration across Nigeria's diverse religious, socio-economic, and cultural affiliations. He commended the quality of NYSC staff, describing them as among the best personnel.

During a recent visit to Abuja, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the current Director General, paid homage to his predecessor and acknowledged Olawumi's determination and leadership. Olawumi also mentioned the ongoing monitoring of NYSC activities and the introduction of health initiatives aimed at providing healthcare delivery to rural communities through corps members.
