NYSC Anniversary Celebrations to Become Annual Event

Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), announced that henceforth, the NYSC anniversary celebrations will become an annual event across Nigeria. This initiative aims to recognize excellence, dedication, and outstanding service among staff and corps members.

Speaking at the 53rd anniversary lecture in Abuja, Nafiu reflected on the contributions of the NYSC to national development and stated that corps members who distinguish themselves will receive merit certificates during the celebrations. He reaffirmed the management's commitment to adapting the scheme to contemporary realities and emphasized the importance of corps member welfare and security.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, described the NYSC as a respected institution that unites Nigerian youth and bridges ethnic and religious divides. He called for stronger collaboration from state governors to improve the welfare of corps members and highlighted the NYSC's significant role in various sectors over the past five decades.
