Obasanjo Reveals CIA Funding of Nigeria's Labour Union in 1999

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo disclosed that the CIA funded Nigeria's Labour Union in 1999 to reform and consolidate the labor movement, following the alleged support from the KGB during the Soviet era. The revelation was made during an event in Abuja celebrating the 85th birthday of Hassan Summonu, a former NLC president.

Obasanjo praised Summonu for his role in strengthening labor leadership in Nigeria and expanding its influence globally.
