Atiku Abubakar Denies Obasanjo's Bribery Allegations

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, responded to allegations made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, claiming that Atiku bribed the late Rt. Hon.

Ghali Umar Na’Abba to impeach him. In a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the accusations as reckless and fundamentally unfair, particularly since Na’Abba cannot defend himself.

He questioned why Obasanjo did not make these allegations while Na’Abba was alive and pointed out that there is no judicial evidence supporting the claims. Atiku suggested that the timing of the allegations is politically motivated, aimed at damaging his reputation as the political landscape shifts towards the 2027 general election.

He attributed Obasanjo's hostility towards him to his opposition to Obasanjo's third-term agenda and stated that he would not engage in historical disputes while Nigeria faces pressing issues like economic hardship and insecurity.
