Obi Critiques Leaders for Ignoring Nigeria's Insecurity

Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, criticized Nigeria's political leadership for concentrating on upcoming elections while ignoring the escalating insecurity across the country. In a statement released on Monday via his official social media account, Obi expressed deep concern over recent attacks, particularly in Borno State, where terrorists reportedly overpowered soldiers, killing several residents and abducting women and children.

He noted that insecurity has become increasingly unbearable, affecting various states including Nasarawa, Kogi, and Benue, where residents face threats from terrorists. Obi emphasized the sacrifices of soldiers, which he believes are often overlooked, and lamented the grim situation in Abuja, where a recent wave of abductions occurred.

He accused the political class of being preoccupied with elections rather than addressing the security crisis, asserting that Nigerians deserve leadership that prioritizes their safety and welfare. Meanwhile, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum mourned the victims of the recent Boko Haram attack and assured ongoing efforts to rescue the abducted individuals.
