Obi Unveils Economic Blueprint for 2027 Election

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), unveiled an economic and governance blueprint for the 2027 presidential election during a press conference in Abuja. He emphasized the need for Nigeria to transition from consumption to production, address insecurity, reduce poverty, and enhance human capital development.

Obi highlighted that over 140 million Nigerians live at or below the national poverty line, facing food insecurity and rising living costs. He called for competent and accountable leadership, stating that public office should be viewed as a responsibility.

Obi drew on his experience as the former governor of Anambra State, advocating for responsible management of public resources and prioritizing education, healthcare, infrastructure, and fiscal discipline. He also mentioned his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and their shared commitment to investing in people.

Obi's economic strategy includes improving agricultural productivity and strengthening manufacturing to boost exports and create jobs, asserting that Nigeria cannot "import its way to prosperity.".
